Congratulations to Zach Sarzoza on being named Roosevelt’s Athlete of the Month. This award is given to an athlete who has exemplified the mission and purpose of Roosevelt Athletics. Zach has been a part of every athletic season here at Roosevelt. He played football in the fall, soccer in the winter and basketball in the spring. Not only is he a three-sport athlete, but he has also volunteered his time to work with the Archway students by volunteering to help coach the Amateur Aces Training sessions this past winter and spring. You will seldom see Zach anywhere around Archway students without at least one of them calling for his attention by the nickname they have given him, “Curly Fries”. On top of this he has also stayed diligent in the classroom. Zach is setting a high standard for Roosevelt students through his athletic participation, volunteer work and studies.
Congratulations to Gabriel Solem on being named the Roosevelt Prep Aces Athlete of the Month. This award is given to an athlete who has exemplified the mission and purpose of Roosevelt Athletics. Gabriel Solem has distinguished himself by the inspiration he provides other athletes on the track. Not only do teammates inquire about his performances, but athletes from other schools seek him out at their track meets. Gabe also demonstrates a sincere focus and effort with respect to practice drills. He remains the sole athlete on the track team who can listen to an instruction, watch its demonstration, and immediately physically apply what he learned to his own effort. The culmination of this effort has resulted in him being the highest-ranking 7th grader in each sprint distance (100m, 200m and 400m) for the Great Hearts Middle School League Championships.
Congratulations to Jhaylah Scisson on being named the Roosevelt Prep Aces Athlete of the Month. This award is given to the athlete who best exemplifies the mission and purpose of Roosevelt Athletics. Jhaylah conducts herself with grace and humility both on the field of competition and the classroom. She was the captain of our boys’ soccer team, is proving to be a leader on the girls’ basketball team and was a volunteer coach at our Amateur Aces Soccer Training sessions. She is a positive example for others in the way she conducts herself during competition and in the classroom, setting a standard for all our athletes and scholars.
